Presentations
Over the course of Monday 2 May and Tuesday 3 May a number of presentations took place in the main theatre at Aberystwyth Arts Centre. These presentations were accessed via live feed by over 1000 unique web users.
Ali Matthews & Friends - A Farmers' Market of Performance
5-7 performers presented a short "thing they do" on a graduated scale - ie, 10p might buy you a glance or a moment with the performer, whereas 1 pound might buy a more intimate encounter or more intense performance. An exploration of the value performance, and what might determine a "more valuable" one - distance, duration, and intensity, and how the audience is then complicit in this participatory exchange as consumer.
Rachel Gomme - Waiting Game
The spectators entered the space carrying slips of paper on which they were told may or may not be an instruction for the performer who awaited them. The waiting game explored the economics of the participatory encounter.
Louise Ritchie - Navigating the Site Map: From Analogue to Digital
The space was set up as an installation; photographs were mounted on the walls, pre-recorded instructions on MP3 players and video appeared on monitors within the space. Following a short introductory presentation on the research by Louise, delegates were be invited to physically participate with the materials navigating and recording their pathways through the space.
